The European Poker Tour (EPT) should be even bigger this season than it was in the last, according to one expert.
Alan Bowden, the editor of Inside Poker magazine, said that the EPT has grown every year since its inception and he expects 2008-09 series to be no different.
"We are expecting even bigger attendances than last year, even more prize money, even more press attention and even more millionaires coming out of it," he remarked.
Season five of the EPT gets underway on September 10th at Casino Barcelona in Spain and many will be interested to see just how big the field is that turns up for the occasion.
During season four, 5,902 players competed in EPT events in total, creating a combined prize pool of £31.1 million.
This was almost double the amount from season four, which attracted 3,481 participants for an overall jackpot of £15.9 million.
