The top performances at this year's European Poker Tour are "impossible" to predict, according to an industry expert.
Alan Bowden, editor of InsidePoker magazine stated that as "so much can depend on the turn of a card", the results of many tournaments are governed by luck.
"Over the course of a few years, skill wins out massively but, over the course of one tournament, luck is one of the major components of success," he explained.
The London leg of the European Poker Tour - which began last week in Barcelona - is anticipated to be one of the highlights of the event, according to Mr Bowden.
It will begin on October 1st and run until October 5th, with a £1 million Showdown event scheduled for October 5th and 6th.
He added that it may be even more popular this year as it follows the 2008 World Series of Poker Europe, which is set to take place at the Victoria Casino in Leicester Square from September 19th to October 2nd.
