Annette Obrestad's World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet would be more prestigious had she won it in Las Vegas as opposed to Europe, an expert has suggested.
Hugh Sorrill of Casino Review Magazine said it will take time before WSOP Europe gets close to being as revered as its American counterpart - and even then, it will probably not reach its level.
Referring to how poker is a US sport first and foremost, the deputy editor remarked: "Being able to make it as a poker player in America is always going to be more important to someone than making it as a poker player in Europe."
The 2008 WSOP Europe got underway on Friday at the Casino at the Empire in Leicester Square, London.
With just four events it is considerably smaller than its sister series, which is held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas every summer.
