Cank Casino takes poker off the menu

2008-10-14 12:57:39

Poker and other live table games are being replaced at Genting Stanley's Cank Casino in Leicester, it has been reported.

According to Poker News, the gambling operator is to fill the void with electronic table games and slot machines in what is viewed as a pilot scheme.

The publication suggested that the close proximity of the Dusk Till Dawn (DTD) poker club in Nottingham could be one of the reasons behind the move, as it may have taken away some of Cank's card sharp customers.

As many as 35 jobs may be lost due to the removal of the live gaming facilities.

DTD has proven popular since its doors opened last year and is now viewed as one of Europe's top poker locations.

Among the famous professionals seen playing at the venue in recent weeks are Simon Trumper and Terath Kandola, who helped the DTD Pros to win the third Team Challenge competition over the weekend.
