Unlucky Rooney suffers casino loss

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney did not have much luck on a recent trip to a casino, it has been reported.

Goal.com cites an article from the Mirror in which it was claimed the 23-year-old lost £65,000 in one evening at Manchester235.

Rooney accrued his loss playing £500 blackjack and roulette, an unnamed source told the newspaper.

Manchester235 is a popular gaming venue in the north-west and has become a celebrity haunt in recent months.

It has proven to be particularly popular among local soap stars and footballers, with the cast of Coronation Street and other Manchester United players all spotted partying at the location during 2008.

Earlier this year, Siobhan McGoff, the venue's marketing manager, claimed that it had done so well because it was the only casino of its type in the city.

"We always knew this concept for a venue would be a great success. There is nothing like it in Manchester," she remarked.
