The Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) Champion of Champions event contained lots of wild action, with many of those taking part throwing caution to the wind in order build up a big lead or leave early, according to one publication.
Poker News reported that the competition "was a crazy affair, with a lot of the 93 GUKPT winners playing like lunatics" due to the freeroll nature of the event and other major competitions, such as the Dusk Till Dawn Anniversary Cup, taking place at the same time.
Arshad Hussain, a former European player of the year, eventually triumphed, winning the £20,000 first-place prize after defeating David Rudling in the heads-up.
According to the official GUKPT website, Marc Goodwin finished third, ahead of Anthony Ross, John Miller, Paul Newman, Grand Final champion Paul Foltyn and Essy Jahanpour.
Prior to the win, Hussain had cashed five times on the GUKPT circuit during 2008, despite taking a break from poker for several months during the middle of the year.
