The growth of mobile phone gambling will not be entirely straightforward, it has been claimed.
Because the sector is expected to grow so rapidly - 27-fold over the next five years, according to Juniper Research's Betting on a mobile future study - it may be difficult for the regulatory bodies to keep up, said editor-in-chief Phil Clegg of quarterly publication InterGaming magazine.
"It will be a bit of a challenge for the government to keep pace because it's so fast moving and quite often the regulators are quite slow moving," he remarked.
However, there will be so much money involved in mobile gaming that Mr Clegg does not foresee it being too much of a problem as the regulators will be forced to act.
The UK is the world's largest mobile betting market at present, accounting for approximately 52 per cent of total wagers across the globe, Juniper Research shows.
