The Remote Gambling Association (RGA) has stated its wish that the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) takes a more practical view of gambling advertising in the future.
Brian Wright, the organisation's business director, claimed that the majority of gaming adverts take place during breaks in sporting events, where the viewers will likely already be used to betting.
The others - casino and poker adverts - have to take place after 21:00, when vulnerable people such as children will not be watching.
He suggested that the ASA should take these things into account before coming to decisions about the suitability of adverts from gaming operators.
"We would hope as an industry that they take a more pragmatic approach in the months and years to come as [these adverts] become more common on television," Mr Wright remarked.
Protecting vulnerable people and children is one of the guidelines that gaming companies must follow when advertising, according to the Committee of Advertising Practice.
