Roy Brindley's book Life's a Gamble: The High Stakes and Low Life of a Professional Poker Player has received a positive review from Poker News.
The tome, which documents the rollercoaster ride of the Englishman's life as a gambler through to his career as a professional poker player, was praised for its candor and interesting stories by critic Martin Harris, who suggested that it is worth a read.
"It's a compelling, complicated self-portrait with many attributes to recommend it, especially for those with an interest in poker and/or gambling," he wrote.
Brindley was brought up in a gambling environment, with many members of his family involved in sports betting, particularly with regards to horse and dog racing.
He turned to poker later on when he realised he was good at it and claims that it does not count as gambling, because players can control whether they win or not.
Life's a Gamble hit the book shelves in the UK on February 26th and is available for less than £10 online in paperback.
