First 24-hour Aberdeen casino licence granted

2009-03-26 15:29:53

The Gala Casino on Summer Street has become the first gaming venue in Aberdeen to be granted a 24-hour casino licence.

Three of the five members on the local council's licensing board voted in favour of the casino's application, which will bring around-the-clock gambling to the city's centre for the first time.

A spokeswoman for Gala Coral was quoted by the Press and Journal as saying the company is thrilled to pick up the new licence.

"We already have licences for 15 of our casinos in the UK to permit 24-hour gaming and are pleased to be able to offer our customers in Aberdeen this facility," she remarked.

The BBC reports that while the Gala Casino does now have a 24-hour gaming licence, it does not have similar documentation for liquor and as such there will be times during the day when alcohol will not be available for purchasing on the premises.
