Golden Mile 'ideal' for Great Yarmouth casino

2009-04-01 16:34:07

Great Yarmouth's Golden Mile could be the ideal place for a new large casino planned for the region, according to a property developer.

EDP 24 reported that Trevor Osbourne - of the Bath-based Trevor Osbourne Group - said the seafront strip is the "right" location for the facility, which he said could link the waterfront with the town and "lift the quality" of Yarmouth.

"It is an established leisure location and would help to connect the beach area to the town centre," he explained.

Mr Osbourne told the news source his plans include upgrades for the town's Marina Centre, which houses the borough's main swimming pool, as it would be a "terrible waste" to discard the investment made by the borough council.

Other developers who have expressed an interest in developing the casino include Patrick Duffy - who has planned his proposals around the existing Palace Casino - and Pleasure Beach chief Albert Jones.

Great Yarmouth is home to several casinos, including the Diamond Players Club, Mint Casino and the Grosvenor Casino.
