Curzon takes down first leg of Betfred ladies tour

2009-04-23 08:12:19

The first leg of the Betfred Ladies Poker Tour has been completed, with Emily Curzon taking home the £3,000 top prize.

Held at the Alea Casino in Leeds, the £100 buy-in event attracted a total of 85 players, with the sponsor's contribution of £1,500 creating a prize pool of £10,000.

The final table featured ten players, with Curzon eventually defeating Angela Evis in the heads-up.

In the final hand, Curzon pushed all-in with jack-eight suited pre-flop and was called by Evis with a pair of nines. Evis remained ahead when the board showed ten-five-three, but a jack on the turn was enough to secure the win.

The victory means that in addition to the prize money, Curzon has earned a seat at the tour Grand Final in November.

One leg is scheduled to be played each month, with future destinations including Scarborough (May), Swansea (July), Birmingham (September) and London (November).
