The Vic to host charity poker tournament

2009-04-30 17:22:58

London's Grosvenor Victoria Casino is to be the venue for a charity poker event next week.

The 24-hour 'pokathon' will take place on Thursday May 7th and Friday May 8th, with registration fees being donated to St John's Hospice.

Activities will kick off with a £100+£20 no-limit hold'em rebuy tournament at 20:00 BST on Thursday, with five freezeout events then being staged - one every four hours.

Players will be competing for the chance to participate in a six-seater single table tournament and the winner will receive a place in the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour Champion of Champions tournament, worth £100,000.

Meanwhile, the casino's new VIP poker room will also stage its official opening next Thursday.

The latest leg of the GUKPT saw Simon Moorman - father of tournament regular Chris Moorman - take down £88,630 for victory in what was only his second live event, earning a Champion of Champions spot in the process.
