Daughter hosts charity casino event in mother's honour

2009-05-06 16:46:48

A woman who was organising a charity casino and ball with the help of her mother has decided to go ahead with it despite her mother's death.

The event is to be held on May 15th at the Holiday Inn in Newport, Wales and will include a black tie dinner and auction as well as the casino, the South Wales Argus reports.

Alexandra Morgan, a former Miss Gwent, explained that she considered cancelling the evening after her mother died from bowel cancer.

But she opted to instead forge ahead with the plans as she attempts to raise money for The Bobby Moore Fund, which carries out research into the disease.

"It was quite sudden," Ms Morgan, 24, was quoted as saying.

"She'd helped me with a lot of the arrangements for the ball so I've got to try and do it for her," she added.

Meanwhile, Whitworth Hall Hotel in Durham is to host a casino night in aid of Grace House North East on May 16th.
