GamesAid plans charity poker tournament

A charity poker tournament is to be held in Brighton in July, with GamesAid acting as the host.

The organization acts as a broker of charitable activity on behalf of the video games industry in the UK and has arranged the for event Tuesday July 14th.

Players of all abilities are being invited to take part at the Grosvenor Casino, with a buy-in of £50 being charged.

Meanwhile, GamesAid has announced that it is launching a membership scheme in order to allow those in the industry to support fundraising efforts.

Chairman Andy Payne remarked: "GamesAid will continue to encourage individuals, teams and companies to contribute," adding that the initiative "will afford everybody a voice in how the industry's charity is run".

Last week, a 24-hour 'pokathon' took place at London's Grosvenor Victoria Casino - also known as 'the Vic' - with proceeds from a series of tournaments being donated to St John's Hospice.
