The Aspers Casino in Swansea was the venue for the latest leg of the Sky Poker UK Tour (SPUKT), with 109 runners entering the tournament.
Aaron Hopkins, a fish farmer from Devon, came through the field to take down the £1,800 first prize, earning a place in the SPUKT Grand Final in the process.
He beat his wife Naomi - who is a semi-professional player herself - along the way, although he later admitted that she is the better player.
"There was a little bit of luck involved but I just went for it and came out the winner," said Aaron, adding: "I had actually only played in six live events before."
Nottingham is to be the location for the final, with the Dusk Till Dawn casino hosting the event on June 13th and 14th.
Last month, the Manchester Leg of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour was taken down by Simon Moorman - father of professional player Chris Moorman.
