Yarmouth businessman gets go-ahead for casino

2009-05-26 16:52:38

Plans for a casino to be built in Great Yarmouth have been given the go-ahead by the regional government body Go East.

Businessman Albert Jones received approval for his plans from the body after the borough council granted him planning permission, reports the Advertiser.

His casino will be one of only eight large venues in the UK and is to be part of a larger leisure complex.

Other places to be granted licenses for large casinos were Hull, Leeds, Middlesbrough, Newham, Solihull, Milton Keynes and Southampton.

"We have got plans that are deliverable. So long as we get the licence, we have all the finance in place for a scheme that will create 1,000 jobs and give a big boost to the whole of East Anglia," Mr Jones commented.

He revealed that there has been interest from a number of developers who want to construct parts of the casino.
