Casinos in Missouri experienced a slight decline in revenue last month compared with the same period the year before.
The amount taken at gaming facilities in the state last month totalled $151.9 million (£92.3 million), $1.6 million less than the revenue 12 months previous.
While there was a drop in takings overall, Lumiere Place, the newest casino in St Louis, saw an increase in revenue of 17 per cent.
However, the President experienced a drop in revenue of 45 per cent, leading to a decline in overall casino revenue for St Louis of 0.7 per cent.
Gene McNary, head of the Missouri Gaming Commission, commented: "Lumiere is probably the reason why statewide, year-to-date, we're up
But Lumiere has not taken away from the other St Louis casinos to the extent that we had projected."
Despite this, the slump in Missouri is not as bad as in New Jersey gaming hub Atlantic City, where revenues fell more than 15 per cent year-on-year in May.
