Isle of Capri Casinos 'safer bet than AC and Las Vegas-based operators'

Isle of Capri Casinos is a likely to offer safer investment opportunities than operators based in Las Vegas or Atlantic City (AC), it has been claimed.

According to Michael Paladino, senior director of gaming at Fitch Ratings, the two gaming hubs are struggling during the economic downturn in the US, reports Dow Jones.

"Although there is broad pressure on consumer spending, smaller regional markets have held up better than Las Vegas and AC during the recession," he commented.

The firm's relatively strong performance was in part attributed to a number of cost-cutting measures that have been taken recently, as well as its location outside of Las Vegas and AC.

Mr Paladino asserted that regional casinos have developed greater stability because they are not vulnerable to weakness in sectors such as air travel or accommodation.

Among the venues that are operated by Isle of Capri Casinos are the Colorado Central Station Casino, Isle Casino Hotel Bettendorf in Iowa and Isle Casino Hotel Biloxi in Mississippi.
