Hull development to include casino

2010-02-05 17:09:39

A casino will be part of a new development being planned in Hull.

Manor Property Group are offering a contract for the scheme, which is to involve the demolition of Clarence Mill and other buildings based on the east bank of the River Hull, Property Week reports.

As well as the gambling establishment, the initiative will include a 185-bedroom hotel, a 23-storey residential tower - the largest in the city - and a sports bar, among other amenities.

Director at the organisation Philip Akrill said: "Awarding the first of many major contracts to develop this site is a significant move for the company and for Hull."

According to the news provider, Apollo Casino Resorts is to submit an application for a gaming licence.

A recent study by Deloitte revealed that the betting sector makes up around 0.5 per cent of Britain's gross domestic product, as well as 0.3 per cent of the country's employment.
