Stuart Rutter is celebrating after emerging triumphant from a UK casino.
He had been taking part in the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) in Coventry, the fifth stop on the calendar, which saw Roberto Romanello, Jeff Kimber and Nick Wealthall all make the last eight.
And Rutter, who had failed to win in three previous final-table appearances, finally produced the goods to leave him over £40,000 richer.
"This win is absolutely perfect timing coming just one week before I set off for Vegas and the WSOP [World Series of Poker]. It gives me a great confidence boost," he said.
Rutter outlasted Danny Toffel in heads up play, despite the fact the card sharp held in for over two hours, after the former's pocket nines trumped the latter's pocket fours.
The main tour will now take a break as the WSOP is at the forefront of everyone's minds, where Rutter will be hoping to recreate the same level of skills on the felt.
