New casino for London?

2010-06-02 15:18:26

The Aspers Casino Group has announced plans to build a new casino in Stratford, London, which will open in time for the 2010 Olympics.

As well as having gaming facilities, the establishment - which will be situated in the Westfield shopping centre - will also boast bars, restaurants and a live entertainment area.

Damian Aspinall, the Chief Executive of Aspers Group, noted the organisation is hoping to achieve one of the eight 'large casino' licenses available in the UK.

It is believed the scheme will see the creation of approximately 350 jobs, while the successful applicant will be revealed in December of this year.

Michael Gutman, managing director for Westfield UK and Europe, told the Estates Gazette: "We are excited to be working with Aspers to introduce a casino to Westfield Stratford City as part of the wider retail, dining, leisure and entertainment offer."

The Grosvenor UK Poker Tour Summer Series is due to begin soon, as those players not lucky enough to go to the World Series of Poker get a chance to indulge in some action.
