Matthew Lope dominated the final table of the second World Series of Poker (WSOP) ring event at the Harrahs Chester casino last week (May 1st).
He picked up a vital victory after a tense final table battle between himself and the nine other competitors, although coming into the last session with a two-to-one chip lead over his nearest rival clearly gave him plenty of confidence.
"All of the work is done on day one," said Lope after the tournament. "Starting day two with so many more chips than I did at AC, a lot would have had to go wrong for me not to finish first or second today."
He walked away from his efforts with $22,447 (£13,627) in prize money, along with the coveted WSOP Circuit gold ring.
Another recent winner of a WSOP gold ring was Todd Chew, who bagged a victory in the recent WSOP Caesars Palace Ring Event #7.
Chew took place in a marathon final table, lasting more than 12 hours, but eventually walked away with a first place cheque for $32,809.
